Understanding Route Compensation
The routes listed above are the most heavily served flight routes in the world, ranked by the number of airlines operating them. Under EC 261/2004, compensation amounts are determined by the great-circle distance between airports: €250 for flights under 1,500km, €400 for flights between 1,500–3,500km, and €600 for flights exceeding 3,500km.
Routes with many airlines competing often have the highest passenger volumes, meaning more potential claims. If your flight on any of these routes was delayed by 3+ hours, you may be entitled to the compensation amount shown. The regulation applies to all flights departing from EU airports regardless of airline nationality.
